On Thursday December 27th, Limerick Camogie Board held a medal presentation in the Woodlands Hotel Adare, for the two U16 panels who took Munster honours in 2012. The U16 C team were Munster 'C' champions and the U16 A team won the Munster 'A' Plate.

Newly appointed senior team manager Joe Quaid was on hand to present the medals to each of the girls. Words of congratulations and encouragement were offered by county board Chairman James Moynihan and also by Joe Quaid. Also on hand were the team management, Peter Mulqueen, Ger Curtin and Maurice Barrett - apologies from Sile Moynihan who was unavailable.

There was a huge laugh when James Moynihan expressed his hope that the man with the white beard called to all of the girls on Christmas Eve, and all eyes turned to the neatly groomed Ger Curtin standing next to him - so that's where Ger was on the night of the 24th !!

First up were the Munster U16 C champions led by team captain Niamh Doyle and these were followed by the Munster U16 A Plate winners led by captain Caoimhe Costelloe. Almost 40 girls received a medal on the night and it offers great encouragement for Limerick Camogie for the years ahead. Indeed two members of this panel (Rebecca Delee and Caoimhe Costelloe) have already joined the senior panel and we are sure there will be others to follow in the not too distant future. Some of the girls have another year ahead at U16 age group and we wish them luck under the stewardship of Kieran Shanahan and his management team.
