Bellefield, Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford
Sunday 10th March @ 3:30pm
Congratulations to our senior team who continued their winning start to the season with a great win in Enniscorthy on Sunday. In Bellefield on Sunday last March 10th, Limerick had a comprehensive victory over a strong physical Wexford side in the Division 2 National Camogie League. Playing with a strong breeze for the first 30mins, the girls in green made full use of this, pointing with long range shots from out field and were very unlucky not to clock up a few more scores ,
Joe Quaid’s side got off to a great start with Niamh Mulcahy wearing the no10 jersey clocking up 1-06, in the first half. 1-02 from play. 0-04 from frees. The turning point of the game came in the 20th min when a defence splitting movement involving all three Limerick forwards was finished with clinical precision for a gem of a goal by Maire Keating , soon followed by two more points superbly taking by Caoimhe Costello & Sinead McAulliffe. leaving the half time score to 2-08 to Wexfords 1pt.
The girls continued to battle hard during the second half , against the breeze and very wet conditions. Limerick clocked up 4 more points, Niamh Mulcahy 0-03 (0-01 play, 0-02 frees). Judith Mulcahy 0-01 (play). Limerick never gave up.our forwards battled hard and came so close to scoring at least four more goals , but for the Wexford goalie who was on top form on the day, during the last quarter the back line came under some severe pressure, but they held the heads and never lost their way, insuring that limerick came away with the victory and a valuable 2 points. This is the type of result that we all wanted for this hard working and committed panel of girls.
Wexford did manage to add 2 points in the second half but never looked as if they were any real threat. Limerick played some fantastic Camogie in what was a very entertaining game to watch, with some great skill on display.

Congratulations to Desmond College, Newcastle West who beat Newport of Tipperary by 2-5 to 2-4 in the u18 1/2 Munster B final.
In a tightly contested All-Ireland Senior B Camogie Final in Nenagh on Saturday. Laurel Hill lost out to St Mary's of New Ross by 2-9 to 3-9. In an enthralling contest the game ebbed and flowed first one way the the other then back again. The Laurel Hill girls showed great character to come back not once but twice only to have their hearts broken by a late goal from the Wexford girls. This is a young side and we expect to see many of them again next year.
