Limerick 0-10 Galway 1-5

Irish Daily Star National League Division 2 Group 2
Mungret 7th April 1pm

The Limerick Camogie Team qualified for the semi-final stage of the Irish Daily Star National League Division 2 on Sunday last by beating Galway by 0-10 to 1-5 in Mungret.

Limerick went in front early on with a free from Niamh Mulcahy. Indeed all the first half scores for both sides came from frees with the exception of a Judith Mulcahy point from play. Galway battled hard and it took three excellent saves from Sile Moynihan to deny them as they went looking for goals. Limerick fans felt they had a goal when on the 25th minute full-forward Mary O'Callaghan caught a high ball and hand-passed it into the net only for the referee to call a square ball. At half-time the score was Limerick 0-6  Galway 0-2.

Limerick got first blood in the first half with a well taken point from play from Caoimhe Costello. Another free from Niamh Mulcahy and point from play from 16th minute substitute Noreen Barry brought Limerick's tally to 9 points.  However Galway came back with a goal from Rebecca Hennelly to add to her two first half frees and points from play  from Emma Kilkelly and Ailish O'Reilly. However another free from Niamh Mulcahy in the closing minutes left the gap at two points at Full-time.

Limerick's impressive four wins out of five mean they qualify for the knock-out stages of the league for the first time in a few years. They meet Kilkenny on 21st April with Waterford meeting Kildare in the other semi-final.
