After two rounds of matches played in the Senior Championship there will be a lot to play for going into the final rounds of games. Killeedy are the front-runners in Group 1 with impressive wins recorded over Ahane and Newcastle West. Ahane bounced back from their opening round defeat with a win over Adare/Croagh Kilfinny who had started their campaign with a win over Newcastle West.
In Group 2 Granagh Ballingarry impressed in an opening round win over Ballyagran. But the South Limerick side bounced back to record an emphatic win over Bruff in round 2.
The expectation would be that Granagh Ballingarry and Killeedy will be the teams to progress directly to the semi-finals but the quarter-final slots are still very much up for grabs going into the final round on 20th September.
With only one round of matches played in the Intermediate Championship it is a bit early to see a pattern emerging but Crecora, Tournafulla, Murroe Boher and Ballybrown all recorded impressive wins and must be considered strong contenders to progress to the semi-finals. However some of the losing sides will have something to say about that when action resumes at the end of the month.
Killeedy and Shannonside have emerged as front-runners in the Junior Championship with two wins out of two and the third round clash between the sides will be much anticipated.
Patrickswell are also very much in contention with an opening round win over Templeglantine under their belts. Last year’s beaten finalists Knockaderry will be looking to bounce back from a narrow opening round loss to Shannonside when they play their rescheduled second round match against Templeglantine on Thursday 13th.
But with three rounds to play in what is the longest of the championship structures all teams are still in with a chance of progressing to the semi-finals.
