Gala All-Ireland Intermediate Championship Semi-Final Limerick 0-10 , Wexford 1-09
Limerick senior camogie team travelled to Ardfinnan on Saturday last to contest the Gala All-Ireland Intermediate Championship Semi-Final against Wexford . Phelim Macken along with the Limerick camogie public were expecting a big performance from the girls in the hope that the carrot of an All-Ireland final appearance in the famed Croke Park would inspire the girls to greater things . A fine crowd had gathered for the game , partly due to the fact that Limerick county board had arranged two warm up matches for the county under 14 teams against Wexford , all the young camogie players from both sides made their voices heard and both teams received a warm welcome on to the field . Referee Mike Kelly threw in the ball at the stoke of half two and it was game on . Limerick started best and had a number of scoring chances but failed to record a score . Wexford got one chance in the 3rd minute when a speculative high ball in around the square was caught magnificently by player of the match Ciara O Connor , after rounding the full back Ciara dispatched a hand pass to the back of the net . Limerick again pressed on and owned the ball for the next 20 minutes , Eileen O Brien-Costello replied with a quick point and tacked on two more scores in the 10th and 18th minutes to bring the sides level . Limerick should have stretched their lead even further after that when corner forward Michelle Casey was put clean through on goal ,but the Wexford goalie Helena Jacob put her life on the line for her county and brought off a magnificent save . The treaty girls took the lead in the 23rd minute courtesy of a point from, Joanne o’Gorman but unfortunately that was our last score of the half . As in all games the other team had their purple patch of the half and while Limerick had held the yellow bellies scoreless for much of the first half , Siona Nolan combined well with Fiona Rochford and Ciara o Connor to keep the ball in the Limerick danger area for the last 5 minutes of the half and between them tacked on 4 unanswered points , leaving the half time score Limerick 0-04 – Wexford 1-04. Wexford drew first blood in the second half with a point from their No. 12 Fiona Rochford but this was quickly answered by Limerick’s No.12 Niamh Mulcahy . Phelim’s inspirational half time team talk seemed to be doing the trick for Limerick , the backs were defending well and Eileen added two more points in quick succession midway throught the half , leaving the bear minimum between the sides . Some hard pulling and stout defending from both sides kept the scoring down , but again Ciara O Connor stepped up for Wexford , firstly adding a score from a 45 and then a well taken point from play . Three points between the sides and only ten minutes on the clock , the Limerick defence were now on top and started to deliver some lovely ball into the forwards , first half substitute Dympha O’Brien was working tirelessly in the corner , fighting for every ball and laying off some lovely ball to the half forward line . A trio of well taken scores from Niamh Mulcahy , Orla curtin and Limerick’s top scorer Eileen O Brien-Costello had Limerick back level with time up on the clock. A replay might have been a fairer result but there was injury time to be played , Wexford won the ball from the puck out and threw everything at Limerick , under pressure our backs conceded a free which was dispatched oer the bar by that girl Ciara again . The limerick crowd hoped for a quick response but when Wexford Centre Back Louise Codd caught the ball from the puck out and ran 30 yards with it before crashing over a marvellous point from about fifthy yards out it was game over for Limerick . Final Whistle Limerick 0-10 – Wexford 1-09
An excellent display of camogie from both sides , well done to Wexford on their win and best of luck in the final against Offaly . As for our own girls , overall it was a good team performance that on other occasions would have been plenty good enough to win the day , unfortunately we did not get the rub of the green this time , but hope springs eternal and we will be back . Well done again to all involved .

Gala All-Ireland Intermediate Championship Limerick 2-12 , Tipperary 0-05 Round three of the Gala All-Ireland Intermediate Championship , was played on Saturday last in Hospital in Co. Limerick . A good win for the shannonsiders see them through to an All-Ireland semi-final on August 21st against Wexford . Following on from a narrow defeat to Derry last week , the Limerick girls improved emmensly to route their oppenents in this one side affair . Orla Curtin and Eileen O’Brien had the damage done early in the first half , scoring 1-08 between them . Michelle Casey chipped in with a point to leave the half time score 1-09 to 0-02 . That massive half time lead was to be enough , straight from the throw in player of the match Orla Curtin had another 1-01 on the score board and the match was over as a contest . Others to excel were Birthday girl Sarah Collins along with Janet Garvey and Sile Moynihan . Well done to all involved and thanks to the large crowd that turned up to shout on the girls .
Gala All-Ireland Intermediate Championship Limerick 0-11 , Derry 2-08 Round two of the Gala All-Ireland Intermediate Championship , was played on Saturday last in Ashbourne in Co. Meath . Limerick played well for most of the game and if some of the 50/50 decisions went their way , the result might have been different . Phelim had to make a late change to the starting 15 when corner back Janet was struck down with a bug and could not play . Phelim went for a blend of youth and experience and selected a girl that is soon to get the key of the door when she celebrates her 21st in one of our sponsors establishments this coming Saturday , the Ballyagran full back Sarah collins . All the backs played brilliantly and kept the Derry scoring to a minimum for most of the encounter . Granagh girl Eilleen O’Brien took over the free taking duties and was very accurate , Eillen was top scorer on the dat with 7 points , 5 from frees , one from a 45 and the other from play . well done to Orla Curtin who scored 3 points fro play and Dee Fitzgerald who contributed one point . Overall , this was a good display from the limerick girls and it still leaves their fate in their own hands as to whether they will make thw semi-finals or not . A win over Tipperary this coming Saturday and a Derry win over Cork will see the Limerick Ladies straight through to a semi-final possibly against Wexford , catch up on all the inter-county news on www.limerickcamogie.com Upcoming Fixture : Saturday July 17th Round 3 of The Gala All-Ireland Intermediate Championship Limerick V Tipperary
GALA ALL IRELAND INTERMEDIATE CHAMPIONSHIP 19th June 2010 Cork 2-07 Limerick 2-07 Limerick Senior team played Cork last weekend in the opening round of this years Gala All-Ireland Intermediate Championship . Cork had the benefit of a first round match against Tipperary and were very sharp in the opening half . The Limerick girls battled well and went in at the break all square at 1-03 a piece . Again Cork started the brighter after the break and had a 5 point lead on the board after fifteen minutes , again the Limerick girls battled hard and clawed back that margin and with time up lead by a point . A controversial decision in injury time and a 45 that may be should not have been given , gifted Cork a point and a draw . Well done to Phelim and all the girls on a good opening performance . The next game for the senior girls will be away to Derry on July 10th , this will be played at a half way venue .

Intermediate Munster Semi-Final Limerick 2-11 , Cork 2-08
An excellent display from Limerick Senior Camogie team saw them beat Cork in this pulsating encounter. Limerick were quick out of the blocks and were 2-03 to 0-01 up after 20 minutes . Michelle Casey was outstanding at full forward in the first half , scoring 2-01 . The backs were playing well together and holding their forwards but with ten minutes left in the half a well execute goal from Aine O Donovan brought the rebels back into the game . Half time score Limerick 2-07 , Cork 1-04 . The Cork ladies had got the better of the exchanges in the second half , again Limerick started brightly with Niamh Mulcahy once again opening the scoring , Cork were now down by seven but they were far from out of it . The Cork girls held Limerick scoreless for the next 17 minutes and raised 4 white flags themselves in the process , the lead was back to 3 points . Centre back Aoifa Sheehan struck a wonderful long range free and when Niamh Mul scored her seventh point we were back in control . A late Cork goal gave Manager Phelim a bit of a scare but with time nearly up Niamh Mul once again slotted over her eight point from a close in free and the treaty girls were home and hosed . Once again well done to all involved , a very good overall display , with plenty left to build on before we can wrestle a munster championship away from Tipperary . League Div 2
Limerick 5-13 Galway 2-06 Our Senior team played Galway in their last game of the 2010 National Camogie League Division 2 in the Gaelic grounds on Sunday last April 4th . Thanks to Limerick GAA for making the venue available to Limerick Camogie and a big thank you to Limerick Pro Helen Cross for including the match details in the main program . A good result from our senior girls saw them finish second in their group in Division 2 of the national camogie league . Two wins , one draw and a loss gives Phelim and his team something to build on for the upcoming Munster Championship and the All-Ireland series . This match was played before the national hurling league game in the Gaelic grounds on Sunday last , a good crowd watch as the Limerick girls gave one of their best performances of the year so far . Granagh-Ballingarry star Eileen O Brien was in magnificent scoring form notching up 3 goals and 2 points from play . Niamh Mul again played a captains part contributing 5 points , one from a free . Overall it was an encouraging display from all the girls , with five out of the six forwards scoring from play , Vera Sheehan grabbed 1-01 , Mairead Fitz raised a green flag with Michelle Casey , Kerrie Brosnan and Katie Campbell scoring 5 points between them . The backs did what they had to do , holding a good Galway side to just 8 scores in 60 minutes . In the end it was felt that maybe we had left a league title after us this season but if the players can continue to give the commitment that the management need and deserve for the next few months maybe a Munster title or All-Ireland Intermediate will come our way soon enough . Team 1. Sile Moynihan (Ahane) , 2. Aideen McNamara( Na Piarsaigh) , 3 . Catriona Davis ( Killeedy) , 4. Aisling Enright (Bruff) , 5. Sarah Carey ( Granagh-Ballingarry) , 6 . Limerick 2-08 , Wexford 3-11 Limerick senior camogie team played Wexford last weekend in the third match of the 2010 National Camogie League Division 2 . After two middle of the road performances against Waterford and Down we went in to this top of the table clash with some big questions to answer . Unfortunately the Wexford girls were really up for this one , a much stronger and more physical Wexford fifteen had our girls on the backfoot for most of this encounter . Niamh Mulcahy once again led from the front with some excellent free taking , scoring 6 points from placed balls . Orla Curtin added two more points to her tally for the year , with Vera Sheehan and Michelle Casey raising green flags . Wexford are now well clear in the league after playing 4 matches with only one dropped point they can’t be caught and will go on to contestd the Division 2 final . Phelim and his team are at home to Galway in the last round of the league before the break for exams and will then be building up for the opening round of the championship away to Cork .

Limerick 1-10 , Waterford 1-10
The second round of the National Camogie League Division 2 was played in Kilmallock on Saturday last . Waterford made the long journey to the south Limerick town to take on our senior team . On the back of a good win against Down in round 1 and with Waterford losing their opening two games the Limerick girls went in as hot favourites to claim the 2 points . Niamh Mulcahy opened the scoring with a well taken point as early as the 3rd minute to set Phelims girls on the way . Little did we know that it would be our last score for 20 minutes , Waterford dominated in all areas of the field and with 5 unanswered points from the deise girls and it was beginning to look bleak for the shannonsiders . But in fairness to Limerick they responded well to the encouragement from the crowd and the sideline and a well executed goal from Orla Curtin followed by 3 points from Granagh woman Eileen O’Brien and a further white flag from Niamh Mul saw us go in at the break a goal to the good . H/T Limerick 1-05 , Waterford 0-05 Half time substitute Mairead Fitzgerald made her presence felt straight away with Limerick starting the second half much better than they did the first . Orla , Eileen , Niamh and Vera Sheehan kept the umpires busy at the Millmount end of the ground while the Deise girls only managed one score in the first 14 minutes of the second half . Two more changes on the limerick side with 15 minutes to go saw local girl Fiona Moloney make a pleasing debut in the green and white and Granagh stalwart Aoifa Sheehan was drafted in to keep us on top . But as we know from old the Waterford girls had not travelled all the way to Kilmallock for nothing , inspired by top scorer on the day Aine Lyng they got going again , a goal and 3 points in the space of 6 minutes from the dynamic number ten brought her team level at 1-09 a peice with 10 minutes on the clock . Limerick again seized the initiative when that girl from Ahane , Niamh Mulcahy scored a lovely point from play . It was backs to the wall time after that but the inevitable and probably well deserved equaliser came in the last minute from Waterford number 14. Jenny Simpson . Overall a good display from both sides with no team deserving to lose , it sees Limerick move into second in the league 2 points behind leaders Wexford but with a game in hand and Waterford get off the mark for the season . Best on the day for Limerick were the Mulcahy sisters of Niamh and Captain Claire , with Aine Lyng best for Waterford . A big thank you to Kilmallock GAA club for hosting the game and to Club Secretary John O’ Donnell , groundsman John Cullhane and Libby Maguire for looking after us so well on the day . Thanks to Billy Mulcahy for announcing the teams onto the field and to Inter-county player Lisa Finn for a lovely rendition of our National Anthem . Best of luck to Lisa Finn and Caoimhe Barry who will be representing Limerick and Kilmallock youth club this weekend in the National Youth Clubs of Ireland Variety show competition in Mary I . Team Sile Moynihan (Ahane) , Niamh Richardson (Murroe Boher) , Sarah Collins (Ballyagran) , Janet Garvey (Tournafulla) , Sarah Carey (Granagh Ballingarry) , Catriona Davis (Kileedy) , Claire Mulcahy (Ahane) , Deirdre Fitzpatrick (Killedy) , Joanne O Gorman (Feenagh Kilmeedy) , Eileen O Brien (Granagh Ballingarry)(0-04) , Niamh Mulcahy (Ahane)(0-03) , Kerrie Brosnan (Ballyagran) , Orla Curtin (Kinvara )(1-02) , Vera Sheehan (Granagh Ballingarry )(0-01) Kristy Carroll (Galbally)
Down 2-06 Limerick 0-13
The 2010 National Camogie League Division 2 threw in on Sunday last in Ashbourne Co. Meath . A Limerick team with a good blend of youth and experience took to the field against an up and coming Down team . After taking a drop in grade to Senior B level , the girls from the treaty city were expected to come through this encounter with out much trouble . The opening few minutes were unspectacular , with both teams just trying to find their feet in the first competitive fixture of 2010 . After the first quarter it was obvious that the Down girls were not going to be a push over , the Down players matched our girls in all areas of the field . Some excellent score taking from both sides left just two points between the sides at the break , Limerick 0-07 to Down’s 1-02 . Again the second half started slowly , Limerick held a slender lead for most of the half , Eileen O’Brien put over 5 points from placed balls and young Katie Campbell fighting for every ball in front of goal . To Limerick’s surprise and with only a few minutes on the clock Down went in front with a splendid goal . While Limerick seemed content to coast along for most of the game , the late Down score sent the cat amongst the pigeons and spurred our girls into life . Some very good play throughout the field showed the manager that when the chips were down these girls would not be found wanting and two excellent points saw our girls win by the narrowest of margins . Best for Limerick were Eileen O’Brien with 8 points and Katie Campbell.
Overall it wasn’t the best display of Camogie , but a win is a win is a win and seen as it is a couple of seasons since Limerick Camogie has tasted success , this win is very welcome indeed . As they say winning is a habit , so hears hoping our girls get used to this habit and bring some much needed success to the Camogie public in Limerick .
Players to Note for 2010 Limerick were delighted to have Vera Sheehan back on the county squad and will look to her leadership to support the younger players coming through. Limerick has an extended squad at present so as to give interested players every opportunity to stake a claim for a squad place for the coming year. Niamh Riachardson, Mairead Ryan, Fiona Moloney and Kristy Carrroll are making the transition to the senior team and are players to watch for in the future
Limerick have plenty of experience in defence with Sarah Carey, Janet Garvey and Aoifa Sheehan going well in training and trial games, Joanne O Gorman has been operating well in midfield while up front Claire Mulcahy and the promising Kristy Carroll have been impressive to date.

County Minors Limerick 0-07 Galway 3-14
Galway got off to a dream start with a point from a free 10 secs after the throw-in. They were 2 points up before wing forward Martina McMahon got our first point from play. Galway dominated throughout with an opportunist goal a few minutes before half time. Limerick got 3 further points throughout this half scored by full forward Caroline Scanlon, 2 from frees, one from a 45. Half time score: Limerick 0-04 Galway 1-10 The second half was almost a repeat of the first with Galway opening the scoring with a point. They continued to control the game with our girls doing their best to defend. At one stage our goalie Trish Kerins pulled off three fantastic saves in a row. All our scores in this half were scored by Caroline one from play, another two from frees. Final score: Limerick 0-07 Galway 3-14
Disappointing result as the score does not reflect how the girls battled throughout this match - our backs were under serious pressure at times and our forwards were unlucky that a few balls went wide, also our forwards were sucked out field and as a result we were unlucky that a few balls dropped into the square didn't result in rattling the net. Well done to Phelim and all involved with our Minor girls .
5th July 2010 County Minors Limerick 2-07 Dublin 2-05 All-Ireland Series Our county Minor team played Dublin last Wednesday evening in Ahane in the first round of the All Ieland series . All-Ireland B champions in 2009 ,Limerick are contesting the A championship this year . Phelim has a lot of work put into the girls in preparation for this encounter but due to outside influences Limerick fielded a very young and inexperienced team . Nonetheless these young ladies battled hard for every ball and fought for possession up and down the field . The wind played a major role in the game , Dublin playing with the aid of the wind started strongly , keeping the Limerick players at bay for long stretches of the opening half , points from Mary O’Callaghan and Caroline Scanlon wer all Limerick could muster in the opening 30 minutes . The backs battled hard to keep the Dublin forwards out but a wel taken goal from Aisling Carolan at full forward and a perfectly struck penalty ( low and into the corner ) from center forward Mairi Moynihan , saw the Dubs lead by 6 points at the break . H/T Limerick 0-02 , Dublin 2-02 Limerick were quick out of the traps in the second half , with the midfield throwing ball after ball into the full forward line , it was only going to be a matter of time before we got our noses back in front , Limerick’s player of the match Caroline Scanlon , started to catch some lovely ball in around the goals and along with a well taken free from Brid Hannon , Caroline rattled the net and also raised two white flags , to cut the deficit to a single point with 10 minutes on the clock . Two quick points from the Dubs , restored their lead to a goal , but once again the backs played magnificently and kept defending ball after ball to clear their lines and setup some scoring chances for the forwards . Fiona Moloney and Sarah Carey dominated for the defence in the second half , while all the forwards were getting in on the action at the other end . Three points down with time almost up and 15 year old Martina McMahon caught a lovely ball on the 45 , passed 3 players and crashed an unstoppable shot to the Dublin net , game back on again . With the wind blowing hard now and the Limerick girls on the ascendancy a poor puck out from the goalie was grabbed by Caroline who dispatched it over the bar to give Limerick the lead for the first time . Before the ref blew for full time a twenty one yard free was bread and butter stuff for Caroline , who once again slotted over to extend the winning margin to two . Next up for the Minors is a home game against Galway and then hopefully an All-Irealnd Semi-final . Well done to all involved and to all the brave mams , dads ans supporters who braved the elements to support the girls . Well done to Martina McMahon from Croagh-Kilfinny who participated in the All-Ireland hand ball tournament last weekend . Martina did her club and county proud by reaching the Final on Saturday last .

Minor Munster Semi-Final April 30th
Cork 4-10 , Limerick 0-05
A good display from Limerick considering Phelim was missing eight of his first team for the first minor match of 2010 . It is a difficult time of year to get a full panel out with the girls focused on the upcoming state exams etc.. .
Well done to the players who have given the commitment and preformed admirably in the green and white last Friday evening . The game was over as a contest at the break as the rebels had amassed a 14 point lead against he wind . Kristy Carroll scored Limericks only point of the first half from a placed ball .
The team regained a bit of focus after the break and even though the elements were against them they held the cork girls to 5 scores while Kristy and Sinead Greene raised four white flags themselves . Elaine Kennedy was a power house in midfield , while Brid Hannon had a great game in the full forward line .
The positives out of the game were the gritty second half display and four well taken scores from U16 player Kristy Carroll , and I suppose the fact that Phelim can give these girls a chance now to concentrate on their books as we have a 9 week break before we play Dublin in the first round of the All-Ireland series .

County U16
Munster Semi-Final Clare 4-15 , Limerick 4-06 3rd July 2010 Our county U16 team had their final outing for 2010 on Saturday last against Clare in the U16 A Munster semi-final . After a great run in the All-Ireland championship where this team were narrowly defeated by a spirited and physically stronger Derry side , it was hoped that the team would bounce back and give a good account of themselves in the Munster competition . The limerick girls started slowly and the banner ladies aided by a strong wind dominated the opening fifteen minutes of the game . A point from full forward Elaine Mullane got us going and a well taken goal from star of the future Caoimhe Costello after 21 minutes put us right back in the hunt . Elaine raised a green flag with her next effort and Kristy Carroll chipped in with a well taken point from play , to leave us trailing by seven at the break . H/T Limerick 2-02 , Clare 2-09 The Limerick girls turned on the style at the start of the second half , playing with the aid of a strong wind the inside forwards got plenty of ball in from mid field and really started to go to town on the clare defence , an early goal from star full forward Elaine Mullane and points from Claire Keating and Caoimhe Costello cut the banners lead to two , with plenty time left on the clock . Clare responded well to the pressure and tacked on a number of scores to restore their lead to four points . Again the forwards led by corner forward Claire and center forward Caoimhe bagged a goal and two points to send the Limerick supporters on the side line and the exiled managers in the sunny Algarve wild with anticipation of what might be as the treaty girls took the lead . Alas Clare’s experience of playing in the top division of the U16 grade started to pay dividends and as the Limerick girls tired a bit the banner women rose to the challenge and raised another brace of green flags and a trio of points to run out easy winners in the end . Well done to all involved with this u16 panel for 2010 , some very good wins throughout the year , coupled with a bit of heart break along the way will undoubtedly make for better years ahead at underage level for Limerick camogie .

Limerick 2-12 , Waterford 1-09 Our U16’s under the management of Mike Murphy , Ger McNamara , Willie Hurley and Seamus Keating played Waterford in round 3 of the U16B All-Ireland series in Ballyagran on Saturday last April 10th . A marvellous display from this young committed county team , sees them top their group in the round robin stage of the competition , the team now await the second place team in group 2 in the All-Ireland U16B Semi-Final .A panel of 30 has been put together for the 2010 U16 B campaign . The management team has put a lot of effort and time into these girls , numerous training sessions and competitive challenge games undoubtedly helped these girls to their victory . Not as one side as the previous two games , our girls had to battle to get the better of the deise girls . Waterford opened the scoring with a point from a free , but it was the last time they led , an opportunist goal from corner forward Claire Keating restored Limerick’s lead and even though Waterford threw everything at us after that the Limerick girls were never going to be caught . The full forward line again were supber with Claire contributing 2-01 , Kristy a point and young Rebecca 0-06 . With a half time lead of 2-05 to 0-05 , the managers rang the changes for the second half , both sides had already qualified for the semi-finals so all players in both panels got a run , a good work out for both sides . Center back Lisa Scanlon was brilliant again and scored 0-01 from a forthy five , Niamh Cagney , Elaine Mullane and Joanne Dowling also raised white flags for the Limerick girls . Well done to Miren O’Grady , Katie O’Reilly , Aine Bresnihan and Aoife Doyle who made their debut in the green and white and battled hard to stake a claim for a spot in the semi-final line up . Best for Waterford was Midfielder Zoe O’Donoghue , Zoe scored 5 points from placed balls , Ruth Geoghegan scored a goal , Aoife Hannon a point and Fiona Morrissey 0-03. Well done to all involved and best of luck in the All-Ireland Semi-Final on April 24th .

April 3rd Limerick 7-15 , Offally 0-04 Our U16’s under the management of Mike Murphy , Ger McNamara , Willie Hurley and Seamus Keating played Offaly in round 2 of the U16B All-Ireland series in Ballyagran on Saturday last April 3rd . A marvellous display from this young committed county team , a panel of 30 has been put together for the 2010 U16 B campaign . The management team has put a lot of effort and time into these girls , numerous training sessions and competitive challenge games undoubtedly helped these girls to their emphatic victory . The match itself started slowly enough with both teams a bit wary of each other as they settled in for this U16 B All- Ireland encounter . It wasn’t long before the Limerick girls got on top , some well taken scores from a power packed full forward line of Kristy Carroll , Elaine Mullane and young Rebecca Delee helped settle the Limerick side and give them a platform to build on . A half time score line of three goals and eight points to one point did not flatter our girls . Star Half back Lisa Scanlon had to go off injured and half time and was replaced by Tahlia Fitzgerald , Kate Hurley moved to the centre back slot with Tahllia filling in on the wing . All the backs were solid on the day , easily dealing with all that was thrown at them and building up the play for the forwards to add to the score line . All six forwards scored with Kristy and Elaine bagging 6 goals and 2 points , Niamh Cagney ,Anna Kennedy and Rebecca raising 7 white flags between them . Top scorer with one goal and six points , 4 from frees went to Martina McMahon from Croagh-Kilfinny , at fifteen years of age Martina will hopefully have a long and bright future wearing the green and white of Limerick . Other subs used on the day were Fiona Holmes , Katie O Reilly , Joanne Dowling and Aoife Doyle . Well done to all involved and best of luck against Waterford this coming weekend , This match will again be on in Ballyagran @2pm Saturday April 10th .

Our U16’s under the management of Mike Murphy , Ger McNamara , Willie Hurley and Seamus Keating had their first competitive outing for 2010 in the opening round of the U16B all-ireland series against Laois . The match was played last Saturday March 13th @12 noon in the village on Clonad Co. Laois . The management team had their girls ready for this match and all 29 of the panel hit the ground running in Laois . A comprehensive victory for the U16’s , just reward for all the effort they have put in over the last few months . The home team started the best and went two points up after a few minutes but it wasn’t long before our girls got going , a host of unanswered points and a couple of green flags left the Limerick ladies in control at the break . Our full forward line of Rebecca Delee , Kristy Carroll and Elaine Mullane scored 4-08 between them , Martina Mcmahon , Anna Kennedy and Julia Kennedy scored 0-02 each to round off a great game for the Shannonsiders . Mike again emphasised the point that while it is great for any club to win a match , he would encourage clubs in the spirit of fair play to accommodate clubs who may be finding hard to field a full team and to please note it is not always necessary to go out and demoralise your opposition by beating them a cricket score . Treasurer Maurice spoke on the Finance of the county and it could be better , some very good fundraising ideas were discussed and it was agreed in principal to run with a county table quiz and also a county wide social night , which may incorporate an awards night . It was also decided to runour golf classic again this year , a sub committee has been elected and will meet shortly to get this venture up and going .
